The Wit and Wisdom of Rush Limbaugh

"We couldn't destroy the ozone layer"

"[Global warming is] one of the biggest hoaxes being perpetrated on the people of the world"

"I think the modern environmental movement is simply the latest refuge for communists and socialists who are opposed to capitalism."

"Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society."

"Wouldn't it be great if anybody who speaks out against this country, to kick them out of the country?"

"Why should Blacks be heard? They're 12% of the population.
Who the hell cares."

" It's beyond me how anybody can look at these protesters and call them anything other than what they are: anti-American, anti-capitalist, pro Marxists and communists."

"If we are going to start rewarding no skills and stupid people--
I'm serious, let the unskilled jobs that take absolutely
no knowledge whatsoever to do--let the stupid and
unskilled Mexicans do that work."

"The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get
a liquor store and practice robberies"

"We have alcoholics and drug addicts in our society, don't we? And what do we say about them? 'Well, they can't help it. Why, it's genetic. Why, they have a disease. Why, put one thimbleful of scotch in front of them and they can die.' We totally exempt them from any control over their lives, do we not? Some athlete will spend two years snorting lines of coke. 'He can't help it. You know, it's -- it's just -- it's not -- it's -- it's genetic. These people -- they're predisposed to having this addictive syndrome. They -- they can't help.' Yeah, like that line of cocaine just happened to march into the hotel, go up to the athlete's room and put itself right there in front of him on his blotter."

"And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs,
using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good
because we know what happens to people in societies and
neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if
people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought
to be accused and they ought to be convicted and
they ought to be sent up."

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."

"I am addicted to pain medication."

It's really amazing to me that people like this get rewarded in this country. And rewarded in a major way! Millions of dollars...just unbelievable.

Thanks for this link -- these quotes are priceless and are going to come in handy next time we have family over and my brother-in-law starts talking about his beloved Rush.

Ick.

Kev: The book by that title is worth the read. I don't completely blame the morons, but they are part of the equation.

BG: Glad to be of service. I am going to add this link to the post as well.

It's just me again, Al --

Just was driving back from a meeting and had a momentary lapse of reason -- and flipped on Rush to see what he was pontificating about.

Of course--he was blasting Sheehan -- went something like this (paraphrasing):

"Yes, oh yes. All you liberal commie pinkos down in that ditch will pay, along with the mainstream liberal media. You do not represent the majority of Americans. The majority of Americans do not pray for the destruction of the United States. 25 years ago the same thing happened. And we got our Jane Fonda's and our John Kerry's --. And we still have them and now this crowd down in that ditch. And these are the same people who loooove Bill Clinton. Makes me want to vomit."

~Cut to commercial~

Lovely! I'm not sure what he was referring to *25 years ago* -- as that was 1980 and I don't remember a war going on at that time.....

BG: Yeah - he has lost track of time 'cause of the drugs! On a serious note though, it is outrageous that he has millions of listeners that think of him as a credible source of information and value his opinions. I truly feel that he more than anyone else is responsible for the shift of lower to middle class white men from voting democrat to voting republican against their own interest. He is a big part of a very large concerted effort. They have shifted the focus and blame away from the policies that benefit the richest people and toward liberals, feminists, immigrants, blacks, homosexuals, secularists, and made them the enemy of the lower and middle class white man. It is disgusting. They have convinced people that the republicans are self-reliant tough guys and that the democrats are anti-god pussies. And Rush is their flagship spokesman.

I just read your comment to The Viscountess and she said, "your telling me this why? I've wanted to kill him for at least the last 4 years!"

HFR: Your comment was quite apt, except I think it was Newt Gingrich who served his wife papers while she was hospitalized with cancer.

Seriously funny, dude. Those drugs have really helped him survive though. Must have. Otherwise there's no accounting for it, except I guess we all have to drag an asshole around through life. Must be 20 years ago in "Doonesbury" where I first read the joke:

"Whats the difference between Rush Limbaugh and The Hindenburg?

A: "One's a flaming Nazi gasbag and the other's a dirigible.

All fine picks, to be sure. However, I would have also included Caress of Steel and A Farewell to Kings.
