Some Guy Once Said

"There is a natural aristocracy among men. The grounds of this are virtue and talents... There is also an artificial aristocracy founded on wealth and birth, without either virtue or talents... The artificial aristocracy is a mischievous ingredient in government, and provisions should be made to prevent its ascendancy."

-Thomas Jefferson, third US president, architect and author (1743-1826)

This nostalgia for and repeated efforts to create some kind of "aristocracy" is a disease of the power-hungry loser types, mostly male and their stand-by-yer-man type female supporters. I would say, despite their achievements, that our "founding fathers" were just as guilty of it as the current crop of criminal shits. It went on in ancient times over in Europe, it went on after the barbarian hordes came down and sacked everything; i.e., Clovis, a barbarian leder who used his plunder to set himself up as a king.(of France) He also converted to Christianity, and ordered all his minions to drop to their knees and convert with him, at practically the same moment, or so the report goes.
Anyway - pattern? Invade, plunder, declare yourself king, use religion as a club, round up plenty of slaves - or underpaid citizens, both legal and illegal -
and voila, there's your new aristocracy.
Aren't they a swell fucking bunch?

The most telling thing is you could post this quote in any forum - liberal or conservative, without any further explanation, and EVERYONE would know why you posted it and who you posted it about.
