Bobby Lightfoot, while sharing his insights into the creative processes of the pop song was riffing on authenticity.

Nick Drake was authentic. I wrote about Pink Moon last August.

One record I used to spin over and over again as a kid was the 1985 single by the Dream Academy 'Life In A Northern Town'. Not sure if it was a hit in the US. Used to love the sound of it, a really haunting song.

Was reading an interview with the band yesterday and turns out it was written as an elegy for Nick Drake. I love how all the music I love links together.
