I think someone must have slipped me some really potent acid just before 9/11/2001 and I'm now in a psychiatric ward in a catatonic state dreaming of a world where all of this surrealism is normal.
This is so absurd, so ironic, and so blatantly contradictory, and yet so fitting for what we have all been living through.

This seems to me to be a true sign that some kind of beast is among us. I'd joke about the Simpsons episode in which Ned Flanders, outraged by Hollywood movies, starts making his own very bloody and violent bible-based epics...only it just isn't funny to me right now.

I feel the same, sometimes, Al. I not only disagree with much of what I see and hear these days, I honestly can't believe it's happening. When did the entire nation go crazy?
Then I realize, of course, that it's only a minority that have gotten that far off track. Unfortunately, they're a powerful and very visible minority.
Dude, I hope you're right about this, because it means at some point we'll have to come down, and things will be okay again.
It's really hard to see stuff like this, and then not root for the avian flu, you know?
