Peter Gabriel - Imagine

One day my son said to me (he was about 12 at the time.)

"Sometimes I get Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins confused, except that whenever I think to myself that 'this song is lame' it turns out to be Phil Collins..."

Here then is Peter Gabriel's awesome interpretation of "Imagine," as performed at the opening ceremonies of the 2006 Winter Olympics. I wish he would do this one in the studio. It most certainly is not lame.

Or, as one reviewer put it, "Phil Collins is the poor man's Peter Gabriel."

That's a great video, Al.

Peter Gabriel is one cool dude.

I never saw Genesis live with Peter Gabriel -- just with Phil Collins. And before they just shot into the stratosphere, they were GREAT in concert. Even when they got so big, that is was pretty ridiculous, I would go to every show. They'd sell out 3 straight nights and I'd be there every night.

I loved them live. Got goose bumps just thinkin about it.

What was the one song called..."Creepy Crawlers?" -- Can't remember. Awesome live. "Afterglow" -- another great song.

God, I loved them.

excellent video. and an excellent cover of imagine. i've honestly never really heard a decent cover of that song, or at least one that i felt 'passed muster.' recommendation: peter gabriel with the afro celt sound system. he produced their three cd's and performs on the third. the song is called 'when you're falling.' really great.
